ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTRE
The AISL Entrepreneurship Centre has established a partnership with the London School of Economics (LSE), one of the world‘s top universities and part of the UK’s “G5” group of schools. LSE Generate will work alongside us, bringing their expertise and knowledge to our expanding programme.
The AISL Entrepreneurship Centre occupies a full suite of board rooms, presentation spaces and seminar rooms adjacent to the AISL FutureLab. Overseen by our Director of Entrepreneurship, the Centre runs business competitions at cross the school, develops connections with local industries and entrepreneurs, and supports the work of the FutureLab.
In the Primary School, the Entrepreneurship Centre’s main purpose is to open the eyes of our younger pupils to the world of industry. The Primary curriculum includes our Budding Entrepreneurs Award, which offers children the chance to develop their own products and devise ways of taking them to market. The Entrepreneurship Centre also gives pupils the chance to meet entrepreneurs in fields such as consumer products – specifically products for children, both simple and technologically complex – as well as to go on field visits to exciting places!
In Years 7 to 11, the Entrepreneurship Centre works very closely with the FutureLab, supporting the marketing and logistical side of product development. The FutureLab Entrepreneurs Award is part of the curriculum, supported both by the teachers of Harrow Guangzhou and external experts and entrepreneurs. As part of this award, pupils learn about both the journey of a product and the mechanics of business development. The award requires pupils to develop and market a product, to adopt the roles of CEO, CDO and CMO, and to complete a specified number of visits and sessions with external entrepreneurs.
In Years 12 and 13, the FutureLab Advanced Entrepreneurs Award is available as part of the Harrow Diploma Advanced Award. This includes the core elements of the award for younger pupils, but is more self-directed, with a range of resources made available to our older students. In these years, too, the Entrepreneurship Centre oversees a programme of internships and business mentoring with the Harrow Guangzhou partners in business and industry.
