On Monday 24 August 2026, Harrow Guangzhou officially opened its doors and welcomed our very first pupils onto campus. As the 15th flagship campus in the AISL Harrow Group, this is a hugely significant moment for our school, but more importantly, it is the beginning of something very special for the pupils and families who are now part of our founding community.
Beginning with tradition
We began our very first morning in true Harrow fashion, with the Harrow Bill before registration. Seeing this Harrow tradition taking place in Guangzhou for the very first time was a particularly special moment for me. It was a wonderful way to begin, together, as one community, and with a strong sense of belonging.
Across the school, pupils have been questioning, creating, experimenting and collaborating. In our AISL Future Lab and Entrepreneurship Centre, they have begun exploring ideas and developing their creativity and problem-solving skills. Throughout our classrooms, there has been the wonderful sound of pupils asking questions and discovering something new.
Building our community
One of the most rewarding parts of these first few days has been watching pupils form friendships and find their sense of belonging. From conversations in the corridors to laughter shared over lunch, these may seem like small moments, but they are the beginnings of memories that will last for years to come.
Although Monday was our first official school day, our journey together began a few days earlier.
On 21 August, we welcomed our Founding Families to campus for Orientation Day. It was a wonderfulto see pupils exploring their new school, meet members of our team and begin to feel part of the Harrow Guangzhou community.
We also announced the House to which each pupil will belong, giving them an early opportunity to connect with their new House communities and begin building friendships that will continue throughout their Harrow journey.
Then, on 23 August, our very first boarders moved into their new home.
There was a lovely mixture of excitement and anticipation as pupils unpacked their belongings, settled into their rooms and began this new chapter together. Boarding is such an important part of the Harrow tradition, and it was incredibly special to welcome our first boarders to Harrow Guangzhou.
There is something incredibly special about being the Headmistress of a school in its founding year.
At our Orientation Day, I shared the Chinese proverb, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” As we welcome our pupils to Harrow Guangzhou, it is wonderful to reflect on how far we have already come, and to recognise that these first few days mark the beginning of our journey together.
I am incredibly proud of our Founding Pupils and grateful to our families for placing their trust in us as we begin this journey together.
